Central Boating is an independent UK boat builder specialising in bespoke narrowboats and widebeams, built around the individual requirements of each owner.

Based at Debdale Wharf Marina in Leicestershire, we manage each vessel from initial specification and design through to construction, commissioning and handover, combining modern marine systems with carefully considered interiors and comprehensive technical documentation.

We deliberately maintain a limited number of build slots each year, allowing us to give every project the attention, oversight and flexibility that a bespoke build deserves.

Where It Started

Central Boating was founded from a background in construction, engineering and project management, bringing those skills into the design and construction of modern narrowboats and widebeams.

Our first project, Gilly, began as a complete narrowboat transformation and helped establish the approach that continues throughout our builds today: careful planning, clear communication and attention to detail.

Today, Central Boating specialises in:

• Bespoke new-build narrowboats

• Bespoke new-build widebeams

• Complete sailaway-to-finish fit-outs

• Narrowboat and widebeam renovations & upgrades

Every new vessel is managed and delivered by Central Boating, working with experienced specialist marine trades and manufacturing partners where appropriate.

What We Stand For

Central Boating is built around three key values:

Honesty – We say it how it is. No hidden costs, no surprises, no overcomplicated jargon.
Quality – Good materials, proper craftsmanship and work that actually lasts.
Communication – Regular updates, photos, videos and clear progress from start to finish.

We believe a boat should feel like home — reliable, comfortable and built to suit the way you want to live.
